To be.as tight as possible in one gun, and backed.out ten thousands in another. Hornady
Seems to not like to be tight. Try, try, and try again see what your gun likes.

I've watched videos of world class shooters cut an already fantastic group IN HALF at distance with just a .003" change in seating depth.

Jack Neary, a benchrest HOF shooter has stated that even .002" seating depth change can play a significant role in an accuracy tune.

I too am guilty of taking 'shots in the dark' at a node, jumping .020 at a time until one particular group stands out as a little better. Then I tune powder charge, and finally I go back after seating depth again but in smaller increments. It doesn't have to be your method of load development, but it works for me.
