"Resigning" and "retiring" are NOT the same thing. She is doing what a lot of officers are doing -- getting out THE SECOND they are eligible for those retirement benefits.

I can't say as I blame her.

Chief Best made her bed and now she's having to lie in it. She gave an inch and they took a mile. As the chief law enforcement officer in Seattle he job is to be "fair, firm, and consistent". She was none of those things and now she's out of the job.
