Same here, quicker to point, and nobody will be grabbing the barrel as one rounds a corner to control it like can be done with a long gun.

Just wanted to put this out for the birdshot users… Cop soaked up 41 pellets of birdshot in the shoulder in the middle of the gunfight, and went on to not only shoot the guy 8 times, but maneuver, get out of danger, and reload before arresting the guy and going to the hospital. It’s not gonna do you any good. It’s better than nothing, but it isn’t effective if you have better things to use.

In my circumstances over penetration isn’t an issue. Buckshot all the way! I’ll take a fist size hole over a shallow crater. I’ve shot critters with both… buckshot hits HARD

I have a high school buddy that took a load of birdshot at 30 yds in an incident similar to Dick Cheney. The pattern hit him in the upper torso and face. Glasses saved his eyes. Drove himself to the ER where they picked birdshot from his body for a couple of hours and determined leaving some in would not hurt him in the long run.
Well, they were wrong. He traveled the world as a well completion engineer many years for Schlumburger and finally Conoco. From the North Sea to the Middle East and Africa. Getting through airports was a nightmare after metal detectors were installed. He spent countless hours with secondary searches of his person and luggage.
So, to agree with others birdshot is for birds.
