They claim its so you can easily holster the gun with the suppressor mounted.
You also can use the factory height sights.

Does Silencerco supply a thread protector with the Osprey? I ordered the KKM Precision threaded barrel for my new Volkmann Custom .45 and Luke at KKM told me that they didn't supply the thread protector.....he said most suppressor companys supply it with the can. Is there any truth to this?
First I've heard of that. Bar-Sto supplied one with mine and when S&H threaded my Browning he supplied a tread protector too. The Lone Wolf barrel I had didn't come with one IIRC, but they were available(?).
You're 100% correct NK! They designed the can specifically to match the serrations of the HK slide.
And just when you thought you didn't need another pistol caliber suppressor...
If I was "income-stream challenged" at the moment I'd be ordering one of those.
