Who should have it been and why?
Ron Paul was my choice in the primary. I feel he is closer to what I feel a [r]epublican should be. I trust his ideas about the economy.
I think Rubio would have smoked Obama. He's young and can relate young voters. Hes Latino/hispanic and popular in Florida. I think he has a decent immigration plan. Hes a more moderate Republican. Hes fiscally conservative but moderate on social issues. Hes pro 2A. Understands the need to cut spending and raise taxes.
I think he's going to be next in line. Unless the GOP wants to go extinct by trotting out the next old rich white guy.

I'm a registered Independent so I had no say in the process but all the R candidates had obvious clay feet that did not lend themselves to making the long run. All the good ideas or conservative principles or persuasive speaking skills cannot overcome personal foibles of various stripes.
It should have been somebody that does not appear to exist with unassailable personal character and family, strong conservative and constitutional principles with a record of working to enact them into law, firm grasp of basic free-market economics and the effect of tax policy.

Not in the political arena anyway. It would have to be someone who doesn't spend hundreds of millions of dollars getting elected.
Someone not compromised by American politics.
Not to mention a house and senate putting the people, the country, and the constitution first.

Romney is more qualified than the man child we have in office right now.
