I got a really nice single point sling for XMAS for my 15-22... I was also given a magpul "ASAP" which clearly isn't going to work for the 15-22. Any suggestions for how to get a single point sling attachment on this rifle?
I'm having horrible thoughts of "redneck tactical" and using zip ties and duct tape...
I've seen some pics online where people have drilled a hole through the "buffer tube"...anyone tried it?
Even though it doesnt require one could you modify the reciever to accept a locking plate on the end of the "buffer tube"? Maybe do that and then just use your MAGPUL asap. I know nothing about the 15-22. Just trying to throw some options out.
Thanks for the suggestion ripnbst. The issue with the lower receiver is that it is a solid molded piece of plastic that extends into what would be a buffer tube. The lower part of the "tube" where the guide for the stock is wider than the hole in the ASAP.
You could use a clamp on single point. These normally do not require removal of the buffer tube.

I just drilled a 5/32 hole in the lower receiver below and in front of the tube and installed a regular sling swivel and stud. It works great.
