Ok So more for ya.
When you measure a jacketed bullet like a Hornady .308 does it measure .308 or does it measure smaller with your calipers?
Should be tighter at the muzzle so you are dandy there.
But that last 3/4" is what will hurt accuracy if you are an accuracy nut.
At least with cast bullets and for me it does.
Basically the bullet gets sized down as it goes through that first 3/4" of barrel then the barrel opens up.
This is when hot gasses pass by the sides of the bullet stripping off lead.
I chased my tail with my Ruger and my S&W revolver to try and make an accurate cast load.
Fire lapping that constriction like you have at the first 3/4 fixed my revolvers.
And they do not lead up either.
