Biden is supposed to sign the bill at a signing ceremony at 4:00pm EST. It’ll be broadcast on Cspan. I’ve seen no information on when we’ll actually see an increase in our benefit checks. There is also a retroactive benefit going back to January 2024.

The Social Security Fairness Act, HR 82, concerning the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset, was signed into law on January 5, 2025. Upon implementation, the Social Security Fairness Act eliminates the reduction of Social Security benefits while entitled to public pensions from work not covered by Social Security. It’ll be interesting to see what rules and guidance Social Security comes up with to implement the changes. And how long it takes. I was penalized under WEP $440 a month. It’ll be nice to get that back. Might be able to add some bacon to my pot of beans.Prez signed it.
