That is not what it does. WEP and GPO reduced SS benefits for people who paid into SS and a Pension plan. They have not been receiving the benefits they paid for. All this does is allow them to get what they paid for - the same as anyone else on SS.

People getting WHAT they are entitled to. They paid into it they should be able to draw their benefits the same as everyone else without being penalized. You’re missing something in this equation.

It pretty clear when I read it. Some are getting something extra or additional that was not payed into.

And you're still wrong. These people did pay into social security and have had it cut previously because they receive a pension from another source. They are entitled to social security because they did pay into it.

If anything, some are getting disability benefits from Social Security that may not have paid that much into SS. We had an occasion to go to the SS office in Chickasha some years ago, and of about 8 or 9 people in the lobby, only myself and one other lady was there for SS retirement benefits. All the rest were getting some form of disability and even setting up medical treatments through SS. Plus, most of those were pretty well obese and a lot younger than the one lady and myself.

She asked me what was going on, so I explained a bit about SS disability.
