You still need lights? I've got some Secur 360's that have the integrated cameras that I might be putting up for sale soon. They're hardwired versus solar though.

Too many residents, too much traffic. They close late at night, open early to keep the wear and tear off them. New HOA board is closing them earlier now but they were constantly breaking. Not designed for the number of cycles we put them through. Since my original post we have had one home invasion, and another break in where the residents were not home and their car keys stolen from inside the home. There have also been multiple other cars stolen and burgled.

Sounds like some of you men of the hood should get outside at varying hours and do some walk abouts!

Cameras are reactive, not too good at that either if the perp is wearing a hoodie or a mask & hat or if the camera just plain sucks or has a bad angle.

Lights are good, but mine stay on dusk to dawn. Also gives the cameras nighttime color recording.

Alarms on the vehicles and home (monitored). Valuables and misc. firearms locked in the safe. Insurance as well.

If there were a home invasion, I would have to call Charle (John Wick reference).

Good Lord, make the HOA put in a gate with a duty cycle meant for the task!

Gated communities typically only has 2-3 entrances. And your intruder has to drive into the community.

How about installing security cameras (and lights) at each of the entrances to capture all vehicle license plates entering/exiting the HOA.
Ensure the traffic footage is stored online for 60(?) days before deleting. This could help all the HOA members, and be considered part of HOA services.

Police won't do anything with personal home security footage. But they might do something with a license plate that repeatedly enters/exits only on the day of crime.

Why won't police do anything with personal home security footage?

Why won't police do anything with personal home security footage?

I could be completely off-base and totally wrong on this, but I've heard/read stories where the homeowners has video footage of the 'locally known' criminal doing the crime, but the police won't do anything about it.

I assumed the police won't use the footage, or attorneys would throw it out for whatever reason. Hence my statement.

Again, my understanding could be wrong.
Although, showing repeating occurances of the same license plates during crimes seems more of what police would use.

Anybody in LEO care to chime in?
I'd be curious if I've been wrong all this time.

I had personal experience with this. I had stuff taken from my garage with video of the person who did it. TPD took a report, and I told them I had video. They asked about the value of the stuff taken but never heard from them again. I guess it wasn't worth their time.

In your momma’s bedroom.
Probably one of a couple things.

Police overwhelmed with crime.
Police lazy and don’t care.

Or

Same statements above substituting District Attorneys for Police.

I shared elsewhere about one of the two Murder One cases I was on last year they used Ring Doorbell video to convict the perp. So yes they do use homeowner supplied video.
