Common Penny That Could Be In Your Pocket Right Now Is Selling For $4,000

These days, plenty of people would walk by a penny that's on the ground, thinking that it isn't worth one cent to potentially touch something dirty. However, that penny, and ones that could right now be in your pocket or under your couch cushion, might actually be worth thousands of dollars.

The_Coin_Guy on TikTok explained what to look for and it is all about President Abraham Lincoln's ear. If you look at your penny and Honest Abe seems to have an extra earlobe, the coin is way more valuable than you'd think. The mistake, which is known as a double die error, is most often seen on 1984 pennies, but could be on other years as well. Since there were eight billion pennies produced in 1984, chances are somewhat high that you might have one with the "double ear error."

A penny in mint condition with the mistake sold in 2009 for about $4,000, but even ones in not great condition are worth over $100.

It won't be in my pocket, but I sure would like to know if it in one of my many cannisters. I probably have enough change gathered to pay for that S&W 629, Palmeto has advertised.
But I will not take my change to trade it for cash, because there might be a Cherry Coin in there like that penny.
I used to look thru it now and then and separate the wheat pennies and silver coins, never tried to cash any in for the big coins though.

In your momma’s bedroom.
I have always kept a couple coffee cans of change around mostly because I thought giving shtf there ‘might’ be a chance they would be handy or become valuable compared to paper money. These days I keep thinking I need to go through them looking for keepers (silver or rare).

My son always checks his and has found some valuable pieces over the years.
