So I woke up this morning ready to take my wife to work like any other normal Friday, I just filled up my 44 gallon tank in my Suburban last night, Well I ran out of gas on the freeway today, someone SIPHONED 44 &*(%$^& GALLONS OF GAS FROM MY RIG!!!!

Locking Gas Cap You Say, GOT IT !!!! upon opening of fuel door, noticed the locking gas cap was Mangled beyond recognition, im surprised it kept the little amount of pressure that it did.

The audacity of some people, I am now in the process of putting Trespassers will be shot on sight signs in my driveway, and am going to go into debt for a new security camera system.

I hope I catch this little ^&*( and when I do I will beat my $260 out of him and the 2 hours we both missed of work.

I would love to only keep 1/2 tank, but the Fuel Pumps in 98 Suburbans are NOTORIOUS for dying when the tank is run dry, they overheat too easy and need to be wet constantly with gas, Hence why I keep it full.

I would have much rather had them break into my house and attempt to rob me when I was home, at least then I would get the opportunity to say "hello" in my own special 12g Bean Bag to the face way, or hell break into my shed and take my Stihl Chainsaw, and my Riding Mower, and all my other tools, at least that is covered by homeowners, If that would have happened to my wife instead of me, there probably would have been a mini nuclear cloud this morning over downtown OKC.

Just Crappy morning.

Suxfest.

From my ealrier days of working in a salvage yard one summer:
Locking gas caps only stop the uncommitted thieves.
Easily bypassed.

Fuel pumps in those go bad anyway! Better to be 1/2 full when you have to drop the tank than all the way full. :P I know what you're saying. My truck is a 97 and has the same fuel pump issues.

Sorry to hear that, 44gals thats a lot of money to lose. Locking gas caps are a very minor deterrent though. Of all the locking gas caps I have removed I noticed you can usually pick the lock faster than breaking the cap off but both methods are fast and easy to do. Hopefully they didnt mangle the filler neck.

You dont even have to pry to get a locking gas cap off. All you have to do is pull up on it while you turn it and it will unscrew from the neck of the tank.

I had to do it several times on a old car we had until I just got a regular ole gas cap. Luckily now both of our cars have locking gas doors.
