Did they walk down the road and ask the intelligent people this question? I know I'm getting pudgy, 225lbs and 5'10" isn't "ideal" according to BMI, but I'm not obese. If they can point on where I'm supposed to lose 30lbs on my body that would be nice. Any smart person can tell when they're fat and when they're not. The problem is when the "smart" people who come up with a way to measure who's fat based on their scale. BMI fails and thats what they base alot of their findings on.

you'd be surprised where you can lose 30lbs from. I was 197lbs a year ago (5'8") and after taking up cycling i've dropped two pant sizes from my hips (not my belly, where i still need to lose weight) and a lot from around my face and neck. Now that i'm 30 lbs lighter i can tell you how much better i feel and how used to being overweight I had become.

The fat is there, it's just well distributed.

i know alot of "smart" people that are not in "tune" with what they weigh... college educated smart people.... it is difficult for alot of people to admit it even to themselves and some people that do will make remarks like well i could lose 10 to 15 when it really needs to be 30 to 50... anyways, it is a big deal when our "skinnest" state is fatter then our fattest state 20 years ago..

It was amazing to me when an undercover team reporting on the American Heart Asso. convention said 35% of the people in the convention hit the fast food joints for lunch....
