Now that the election is over and my b-day is coming up, I want to buy a suppressor or two.

I am looking for something versatile. Something I can use on a 9mm and an AR in 556.
Any advice on what to look at and what to stay away from is much appreciated.

I am a noob to this subject, so go gentle on me, :)

@GHArms posted a sale event earlier this week. He is my go to Class 3 dealer.
Rex Silentium is running a 30% off victory sale. I own several, and I'm planning on getting a few more. No more swapping between rifles or worrying about the kids needing hearing protection.

For the best get a 30cal for 223 -30cal.
Then a 45cal if you have pistols that big.
Then something like a Dead Air Mask if you want a 22 lr. cal.
Pistol and 22 cans should be able to disassemble for cleaning.
Most rifle cans are now self cleaning.
Chat around as to the best "Hub" !
Some makes use a universal "Hub" for attaching the rifle can,
Some use propriety mounts.
"Short" usually doesn't necessarily mean good.
Pistol cans like for 1911, Glock, etc that the barrel moves on, require a neilson device. ( sold separately) and pistons threaded to match barrel threads.
If you're going to put the pistol can on several guns, go with something like Griffin armament piston and gate lok or cam lok muzzle devices for quick change between guns.
For the most part pistol and rifle cans use different shaped baffles due to high versus low velocity demands.
Price doesn't dictate the "Best" cans.

What I did (what worked for me) was getting a 22 suppressor (Rugged Oculus) and then a 9mm suppressor (Rugged Obsidian 9). At some point, if I don’t over-think it, I will get a rifle can for 5.56 and 7.62. Like Merrill above, I really like the specs on the Rugged Alaskan. Since I can only shoot one rifle at a time, it makes sense to get a suppressor that works on both rifles.
