Where were all these revolutionary badasses after the 1936 election? Why didn't they take our country back from a progressive socialist federal government 76 years ago?

They were still grieving over Alfalfa Bill Murray's 1932 Democratic Primary loss to FDR. He's got the perfect platform and ideals for OSA, just 70 years ahead of his time :D

I maintain that getting 100,0000 or 600,000, or a million, or whatever similar dinky number of people to sing some petition is not indicative of anything. I sign papers every day. It doesn't take any effort, commitment, anger, emotion, or sacrifice. It carries no risk.

This "the tension is palpable" and "people are fed up" stuff is such ********. No, a handful of extremist, BJ-for-ride-trading, backwoods Timmy wannabes are probably fed up and drawing up plans in the margins of their paperback copies of the Turner Diaries. There's not even enough of those guys to fill all the seats in a school bus. The rest of these "fed up" people are not extremists and thankfully they're not dangerous. They're whiny suburban ******* and the fact they can spell their name is not indicative of any "growing movement" or "palpable tension". Hell, half the number of these people that are "fed up" and "brave" enough to sign some silly meaningless crap have physically marched on Washington before, with large numbers of sympathizers nationwide doing similar. Show me 600,000 people fed up enough to do more than masturbate on the internet and sign their name and it might be indicative of a growing movement. Right now it's indicative of a small hobbyist group of emotionally immature men that have accomplished a task only slightly more complex than an autonomic nervous function.

It seems like the states that are the biggest drain on the taxpayers are the ones petitioning to secede.
It might be best if we jettison the freeloaders before they change their minds.

The cartogram above shows a map of the United States with the sizes of the states exaggerated or reduced to indicate relative sizes of their net contribution to (blue) or net receipts from (purple to red, where red is the most receipts per capita) the federal budget. The biggest contributors and recipients are thus the biggest in the graphic, while those that are relatively neutral are smallest.

Is that map really warped or am I just in Colorado?

I think people are mistaking "being fed up with progressive/changing demographics and values of the country" with "fed up with a detached federal government run amok".

Where were all these revolutionary badasses after the 1936 election? Why didn't they take our country back from a progressive socialist federal government 76 years ago? If only they had desk jobs and internet connections back then, we could have a more thorough historical collection of their "why I orrrtahs".

Being a supporter of Obama, where do we get the money to support the Obama plans? How deeply are you willing to tax the middle class? What do you feel is a fair income tax rate for workers regardless of income level?

I had a fraternity brother who would talk about how the south should secede again so that the productive states wouldn't have to worry about them.

Then, by his logic, the south wouldn't have to deal with illegal immigration anymore because it would be worse than Mexico so no one would want to go there.

He's kind of a jerk.
