I'm not sure that we want the south, they don't bring much to the table and a high percentage of their population is on welfare.

Interesting perspective. Compare and contrast that position with the armed rebellion that occurred in the late 1770s. Those rebels quit their citizenship, and quit their country. The deck was pretty well stacked against them.
Its all part of the plan.
A different perspective. Their country was separated by an ocean, their citizenship was here. They also had indians and the French on their side. Jus sayin.
Texas is separated by a couple of rivers and a swamp. Maybe the mexican illegals are on their side, but i doubt it.
So geography is the determining factor in whether a populace has the right for self-determination. Thanks for the enlightenment. So what the Founding Fathers meant to say in the Declaration of Independence was...

*but only when you are separated by an ocean and have other world or regional powers supporting your cause
