Dave what is its configuration. is it powder or liquid, if powder what color is it?
I'll have to double check on what came in.
I know it is powder, not sure on the color.
Pure Potassium Permanganate is a fine powder that looks black, but when you put a grain in water, it is purple.
Actually, the pure stuff is used for water purification

That's what I was hoping, much easier to keep a powder in the bug out bag than a liquid. I suspect brake fluid would work as a fire starter as well, we used to use granulated chlorine and brake fluid for the reaction too..
