Here's some examples for you...

The Heritage Foundation published a good article on Government waste spending back in 2009. I think it's worth a read.

In it you can find out how the governement spent $2.6 million training Chinese prostitutes to drink more responsibly on the job.

You can also see about how the Federal Communications Commission spent $350,000 to sponsor NASCAR driver David Gilliland.

How about Congress giving Alaska Airlines $500,000 to paint a Chinook salmon on a Boeing 737?

$1.8 million to help build a private golf course in Atlanta, Georgia?

On and on and on and on....

please find a source that isn't a right-wing think tank TIA

How about ABC? http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/sen-...ul-government-programs-2010/story?id=12437190

Citizens Against Government Waste? http://www.cagw.org/

The Congressional Pig Book is CAGW's annual compilation of the pork-barrel projects in the federal budget. The 2010 Pig Book identified 9,129 projects at a cost of $16.5 billion in the 12 Appropriations Acts for fiscal 2010. A "pork" project is a line-item in an appropriations bill that designates tax dollars for a specific purpose in circumvention of established budgetary procedures. To qualify as pork, a project must meet one of seven criteria that were developed in 1991 by CAGW and the Congressional Porkbusters Coalition.

BTW, The Heritage Foundation provided many other sources in their article. It's fact based.

We can argue it over a beer sometime at McNellies I guess, but I just don't get why you're so big on government spending our money frivolously especially when we're running the highest deficit ever by almost double any other administration.

I guess this might explain WHY we're doing just that... too many people who aren't willing to just stop spending and make some decisions about what to cut.

NOW you're talking! When was the McNellie's OSA meetup supposed to happen?

I'm contending that this particular case isn't an example of frivolous government spending.

I don't know but it's overdue! I'm out for this Wed. but maybe next.

Fair enough... perhaps with the details you've uncovered, the actual study doesn't represent much money. If the $900K is for the entire lab funding, then I'll grant you that.

It is however a good headline grabber reminder for us to remain ever vigilant about how the government is spending like a drunken sailor (no offense to my squid buddies out there).

Skim the study, the publication of which I linked earlier. They set up a booth at a LGBT event for two days and had people fill out surveys, compensating them with vouchers for free movie tickets. There is no way they spent $900,000 on that.

Today I learned that poopgiggle is well versed in the minutia of ***** studies, and Cedar Creek can readily rattle off the names of gay ****o mags (I had to google).
