I posted yesterday and today - the items posted (not counting the pistols) get used about everyday -

multi-tool, pocket knife (because unfolding a multi tool just to get to the knife blade is a pain just to open a package) , ink pen, readers, headache powder -- daily use , all of them

conspicuously absent from my loadout is a flashlight - i need to change that , or at least have one handier. My goofball dog escaped her dog run last night and was running around in my back pasture like a happy loon while i rummaged through drawers to find a flashlight to go fetch her - just never felt a need to carry one in the daylight, but it has occurred to me that if iever have a vehicle issue and am looking around underhood , or anything similar -- might be nice to have one handier than rummaging through my backpack for one also
Check out the leatherman tools. The knife blades are on the outside and can be open one handed. If I’m hunting, fishing or working, there is a leatherman on me

You just blew my mind so I took a closer look at mine - Yep , same way - regular on one side and serrated on the other with a thumb flip on the spine - took it for granted because I mostly just use the pliers

—- I’m just going to use the blonde excuse on this one! But I think I will check out one of the Leatherman Waves - I saw them at Costco last week

How many of you guys actually use the stuff you carry every day or 2? I realize defensive tools don’t get used every day. I hate carrying much in my pockets. I used to carry a lot more when I was tacticool. Now I’m just an old fart with negative opinions about most things.
Just thought I'd add that I loath full pockets also, am happiest when weather cools enough to wear field jackets with all the extra pockets and am in mourning each Spring when I must put it away, and my car does heavy lifting for important things such as my old Army blanket, heavy duty jumper cables, a true trauma kit, 5000lb cargo strap, Mora folding saw and sheath knife and my old e-tool in trunk along with pillow stuffed backpack for overnight comfort and shooting rest. The console holds a Swiss Army knife and glove box contains a small brass neck compass and waterproof matches impossible to douse in water when lit.

Flashlight technology has come so far in the last ten years or so, that there's no excuse not to carry one.

For as little as 10 bucks, a person can always have a torch on their person that is so small (smaller than a tube of chapstick) that you can drop it down into your pocket or attach it to your keys and always have it with you.

The two brands I use (and love) are Olight and Skilhunt. Both take a single AAA battery. Both offer a single output of 100 lumens, which is plenty of light to illuminate your personal space and a short distance around you. And both are simple, dipshit proof operation. Simply twist the bezel to turn on and again to turn off.

As a cop who works night shift (2300-0700) a flashlight is probably the tool that I use most. I'm always checking buildings, traffic stops, yaddida, yaddida, yaddida. It is such a viable tool, I usually carry three. Why? Because batteries will die on you unexpectedly.

Instead of a two-stage light (high/low) I like my high to be only high and my low to be only low. Nothing worse than having to cycle through modes when you need a burst of bright light, RIGHT F*CKING NOW! So when I need a lot, I grab one light. When I need a little, I grab the other. And I have the third to get me back to a safe place if both my lights take a sh*t on me.

The accessory bits along with a 3 inch extension that is in the Leatherman pouch has saved me a lot of trips to the truck. The flipper is a Boker my son gifted me several years ago. Great little knife that keeps a good edge as long as I ain't abusing it .... So the Leatherman knife has been massively abused lol.
