Todays better, but the gut is still not sure about things...

I've been sick for about two weeks. Finally got a diagnosis today. Bronchial infection.

Hope you get to feeling better soon JB.

All of my kids had the stomach thing. It seemed to only last 48 hours at the most with them thankfully. Somehow (fingers still crossed), I avoided catching it.

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but there is something you need to know. Bronchial stuff has a very nasty habit of returning when patients push the envelope. Active professionals are among the most likely to push the envelope. So, if you want to go through it all again, starting this time in a weakened condition, just hit the road running.

Or, you could listen to the medical professionals and follow their advice to the letter. There is a medical one word oxymnoron that applies most to busy professionals. It's the word "patient." You have been warned. Do the required rest.

And if you happen to be a smoker, now would be the best time to quit. My wife had bronchitis on an annual basis until she quit smoking. In the 20 years since she quit, she has had it only twice.

About what the OP is suffering from, my wife is just getting over it. I was in Tulsa, buying a rifle, going to the J.M. Davis Museum and visiting the aquarium, so she and the dog got to enjoy her dire symptoms all alone. I felt really bad, but did clean up our second bathroom after we mutually decided not to have it razed . . . "you should have called me!" "Didn't want to mess up your trip." Do I have a great wife, or what?

I already had it. I was down all last weekend (hit me Friday night) and spent Monday sleeping trying to get my energy back. It put my Mom in the hospital. My Dad, my older daughter and Brother got it too, but all of them are better. Now my Son and my Office Manager have it.

It's a nasty one, but it seems to be fairly short lived. The worse for me was the chills. I spent 36 hours shivering so hard it hurt, until I got exhausted and fell asleep for an hour or two. I was fortunate that I didn't have the nausea. I knew I was over it when I finally could trust a fart to just be a fart...bananas helped with that a lot.

I'm hoping beyond hope that my drivers don't all get it at once.
Just got to the "trust" part, lol. So the bananas help?
How long does it last after the trust part?
BTW, I am smoker too.

Sounds like I was lucky. Got it last Saturday early morning. Was mostly over it by Sunday morning, just overall body soreness. By Monday, I was eating and drinking normal again. My wife, however, has had it for 3 days now and still pretty bad.

The kids and I had a version of this when we went to Louisiana for Thanksgiving. The kids had stuff coming up about every hour, I just felt sick to my stomach, got lucky and that was it for me.
The getting sick part lasted 12 hrs, the next 12 they just felt horrible.

Good luck to all who have or get this. Have some Ginger Ale and chicken soup available.

Oh, yes... eating 2 fresh bananas helps immensely with diarrhea. The bananas also help with dehydration, not only by slowing the diarrhea, but because they are LOADED with potassium. Drinking 12-16 ounces of apple juice will work the other way if you need to get things moving. Learned these neat little tricks when I was raising babies many moons ago.
