One of the worst things about that world is you could never get any true rest.

If I were set up someplace like that prison, i'd have booby traps and I'd kill the "outside the fence" zombies for exercise. As easy as they seem to die, I'd spread folks out along the fence line so the zombies don't mass up too much and just go to town killing them, and save the ammo for emergencies. With as many survivors as there are at the prison, they could probably make short work of those zombies hanging outside the fence.

Oddly enough, this is now a part of the plot and was mentioned in last nights season premier. Seems everyone has to take turns killing at the fences using re-usable weapons - knives, sharp sticks - I think one chick was using a medical supply walking cane that had been sharpened.

They put up large Punji timber near the car entrance but left the fence were they (zombies) usually come to open? The zombie weight is going to topple the fence if they don't reinforce from the top of the outer fence poles to the concreted bottom of the inner fence poles.

If these zombies are all there and they kill them every morning, where did they all go? Wouldn't there just be a stack of stinking corpses ringing the prison fence? What a stench.

Yes, in fact the toppling of the fence becomes a problem this season. Apparently someone has been feeding the zombies. (My guess is the kids that were naming them last night)

The claim they gather the bodies and burn them to control the (gag) smell.

If me I would be using a larger bore pellet rifle. They use no powder, air is free and casting pellets would be easy. You could pick off zombies all day before they get to the fence. They have air rifles that will take down large game, so surely a shot to a zombie head would be enough. :-)

I wish they would have had Emily Kinney, who plays beth, playing someone who was closer to her real age instead of a teenager. She's 28, but they have her playing a 16 year old and it makes me feel all sorts of creeper because I think she's a hottie! And to add to the confusion, she's even older than me!

Gasoline lasts fore several years. Finding a tanker or a gas station with fuel still in the tanks would not be difficult for a couple of years and the fuel would stay good if it is sealed well. Diesel will basically last forever until it completely evaporates into sludge. AND they could refine their own from a well, we have seen several wells in the area, like the walker pit where the guv stored his biters.

Zombies continue to decay, just at a much slower rate. Within 5 years or so, I think they will just be bones. Did you notice that one that was laying on the floor? When he got up, his skin slid off. That is part of the decay. Also, their bones seem to be brittle. Even a sun-bleached skull is too strong to punch through, much less just poke your fingers into to grab the brain. Which was gross as hell by the way.

Being that it spread so rapidly and seemed to happen all over the place nearly simultaneously I think most gas stations would still have relatively full tanks. No one would have had the time/forethought to get on the road.

I'd like to see them do some back story on exactly how it spread, where it started etc. is it worldwide? just North America? Why is no one using a HAM radio to make contact? this is Georgia we're talking about here.
