OK, please link me to the statistical review of world energy that you use that is the infallible word of God.

What the hell do people on the internet want out of studies, reviews, and published papers? Nobody else in the field of energy econ has ever reviewed or analyzed the BP statistical review. One of you guys on OSA should be the first to do it.

I apologize, I didnt think it was necessary to italicize my post indicating sarcasm because I thought it was way too obvious.

I do have to comment on the wikipedia comments though. Schools will not allow ANYTHING from wikipedia to be cited as a resource for any reports etc. soooo that should tell you how reliable wikipedia is, I mean one minute you may read fact and the next I may hit the same page and read fiction. Im not saying there are not other reliable sources out there I just wouldn't hedge my bets on wiki.

Yes, I'm quite sure no one has ever turned in a paper with the BP Statistical Review cited as a source. It's such a fringe publication that receives no review or analysis at any point and is generally thought to be compiled by a chicken pecking at a 10-key somewhere.

Any paper, publication, book, or objective fact ever cited or linked to on Wikipedia immediately becomes unusable. This is called the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki_by_Association_Law

Do a google search on EPA and Coal Burning Power Plants and you can easily see what the government is doing to the coal industry. If the government and the EPA has their ways then we all need to consider what our electric bills are going to look like in the next few years.

Didn't I ask you to do that first? I'm looking for facts so everyone in this thread can discuss without saying things like "just google and you'll find" or "everybody knows".

Many plants have already been shut down. 57 coal burning power plants are scheduled to shut down this year and a total of 175 plants in the next four years. This is what the government is doing to the coal fired power plants. Pretty easy to see.

Again - why is this happening?

Old school teachers and administrators that need to put the blackboard erasers down say stuff like that - not teachers/administrators who actually know how the interwebz works (more and more teachers are allowing Wikipedia as they grasp the concept of sources). Also, with the failing education system going deeper into debt with less results, you may want to re-consider using "schools" as a reliable guide for what should be allowed. I'd love to see a source for "one minute you may read fact and the next you may hit the same page and read fiction". That is a complete misunderstanding of how Wikipedia works. Also, google "school textbook issues" or talk to any teacher about how many spelling/grammatical problems, or just plain wrong information exists in textbooks.

So far, Wikipedia has more sources than you do, but again I digress - post up better sources if you disagree with Wikipedia, but let's keep this on track.

Regulation kills initiative in the free market. And the obama administration is killing the free market.

In the past 90 days, it has posted 6,125 regulations and notices – an average of 68 a day.

Oh, Just an observation. It looks like a liberal love feet in this thread!

I don't know that the past 90 days is what has caused the Coal industry to suffer for 4 years (but great attempt at smoke-and-mirrors). Also why is it that as soon as people ask for facts and real information, all of a sudden, it's a Liberal Love feet?

I love it - the loudest-talking posters on this thread about how Obama is killing the energy industry and not a single fact has been posted yet. C'mon guys - how are we supposed to keep all this anger going if we can't get our $#@! together and post why?

Huge NG reserves and NG prices dropping too stupid low prices have more to do with coal plant closures than looming EPA regulations. Can anyone tell the class how much NG was in 2006? What about 2012? Profitability drives the energy industry, people.
