I was fine for most of the day yesterday. Just the residual coughing and hacking. THEN about 8 pm my head starts to hurt and the fever was back. WTH is this stuff!?
Death warmed over is what feels like. Went to work Monday and 8 pm started running a 104 fever, head ache, chills and could not keep food down. Finally broke the fever at 2am Thursday and kept it bay since. The coughing and hacking still very persistent. I tested positive for influenza A.

Doc said it's taking some people 2 weeks to get over it but the coughing and hacking could linger 4 weeks.

What's up with these weird illnesses lately? To start, I'm 41 married, have 2 kids, a 6yo girl and 1yo boy. Our daughter woke us up last Sunday saying she was sick. We cleaned up about 3 or 4 throw ups that day. She had a temp but it was a come and go type also had cold chills. Stayed home from school Monday (holiday), Tuesday, Wednesday, we decided to stay home thursday too just to play it safe. Tuesday night she seemed to be feeling better. Wanted to eat, hadn't thrown up in a day or so but her temperament was weird. She's always 100 miles an hour wanting to play this and that. Well I went to take her to school on Friday morning and on the way to school (a 6 mile drive) she fell asleep. This never happens....ever. mom got a call around 11 saying our kiddo needed to come home. She just has no energy and now she's got this snotty nose, coughing up crap thing.

Now to me. Tuesday I come home from work and I don't feel right. I feel cold, clammy and just no energy. I never threw up and still had an appetite and all but my body just felt like I got hit by a bus. Called in to work Wed and Thursday. Thursday night I felt a little better and went to work in my shop on some stuff. Well I woke up early Friday morning to piss and my throat was killing me and I don't have a voice. Same thing Saturday but a tad bit better. Now today, throat still hurts and coughing up crap. We have all takin azyth and over the counter stuff but nothing is helping.

For reference I'm in decent shape, 195 and 5'11". Non smoker, don't drink. Daughter is just your average kiddo. Slender built, not over weight at all. My wife said she felt a little odd this morning when she woke up so I'm guessing it's her turn. Our son is fine.

My wife wants to take our daughter in to get swabbed to see what it is. I don't. Don't ask me why, I just don't. Anyone else having weird stuff like this go on?
People may label me as a conspiracy theorist, which is okay with me, but I believe it is being caused by the strange "fog" that has been popping up around the country recently. I am just an amatuer mycologist, but i have noticed since the first appearance of the "fog" there has been many different types of fungi, including quite a few mushroom species that normally only fruit & are able to survive during spring are popping up all over my property. They are very out of season, thriving in conditions that would normally make it impossible for them to survive, and they are accompanied by a type of fungi I have yet to identify 100%. I believe based on its characteristics along with the tissue & spore samples I have gathered that it is related to cordyceps, but so far from my observations ive noticed it lacks a traditional fruiting body, but instead it forms into a 1/2 inch to 2 inch thick white rubber-like coating that has a very smoothe texture. It is also alarming when you look into the rapidly increasing numbers of aggressive fungal infections being diagnosed in humans & animals over the last 6 months to a year, especially when compared to the numbers from past years. I believe there are either fungal spores being released in the "fog" along with the other toxins it contains, or the hurricane sweeping through the Appalachia mountains unearthed large amounts of fungal spores, that have been carried all over the country by the strange weather, and that is what is causing so many people to become so ill.

Fungal infections are not usually the suspected culprit when people go into the hospital, or for a doctors visit, so they often go undiagnosed, so they are not properly treated which allows the infection to spread from the respiratory system into other parts of the body, potentially leading to much more serious complications, such as meningitis, sepsis, organ failure or even death.

Also with the common misdiagnosis of being a bacterial infection, or other common upper respiratory infections which are accompanied by the improper treatment with antibiotics will weaken the bodies ability to fight the fungal infection, allowing the fungal infection to thrive, spreading & becoming much worse quite rapidly.

So if you do get sick and decide to go the the doctor it's worth asking them to do blood work & run any additonal tests to rule out having a potential fungal infection before starting treatment for what the doctor just assumes is a common infection & prescribes you some antibiotics.

Don't have a clue what it is. Yesterday was the 1st day in about a month I felt like doing anything other than staying in bed.

I did get immunizations for RSV & shingles about the time I got sick. Maybe my immune system ain't up to that sort of thing anymore. 🤔
