No preservatives and unused for over 3 years.
Don't know the details other than this is What it looked like when I started pulling it apart.
pink rag is what came out of the fuel tank. The pitcock was solid tar corn syrup And blocked.

My guess is the ethanol was not compatible with something inside there (such as a sealing surface) and melted it. (which is a problem because things that use ethanol need to be designed with that in mind, and ethanol was basically forced onto us to win Iowa farm votes)

If you put ethanol gasoline into a glass jar and just let it sit the same amount of time, it won't gunk up on its own but it will attract water from moisture in the air.

On my older cars (‘05 trailblazer) I only use 100% gas. Don’t want to drop the tank if I don’t have to.
