I think the original notion of "American made" should have been "American owned" companies. Even Cooper makes some tires in China. Chrysler is owned by Fiat.

No argument there. But that wasn't the initial point of the radio hosts speaking of the last of the Mohican tire companies in the USA. As you note, the whole notion of "American made" depends on the context of what you are talking about.
