Watching the History channel last night; a show about London during WW2...and the Germans use of the V2 rocket. The scene was a street in town filled with shops...all the street level viewing windows were blown out by the rockets bomb blast. Folks were walking around viewing the damage...not one person even went close to the stores...no looting! Could this happen in any city today?

They may have seen the camera crew and decided to behave themselves, as film cameras in those days were hard not to see coming - not like today with cell phones and such. Looting was rife during WW2 as well as in all other wars, no matter where or when it took place.

I can remember a time here in Norman, Oklahoma that you could lay a $100.00 bill in the bed of a pickup and park it on mainstreet all day... i told my father in law thatr it couldn't be done.
He proved it. The year was 1969.
