To all the FFL holders...is the gubment making copies?

Is this happening?

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE) is running around to gun shops nationwide and wholesale copying the background check forms dealers are required to keep on hand.

I've heard this more than a few times over the past several months and was just curious about whether it is true or not.

If not...good.
If so...WTF? Why? What is their reason - or do they need one?

If they are, it is highly illegal IMHO.
4473 data is NOT to be stored by the federal government in any way.
This is to prevent an national registry of firearm ownership, which is illegal.

I can tell you that an M4C member had the ATF show up at his door with a spreadsheet of every firearm he'd ever bought, from FFL's all over Texas.
