that was my point. You can't support the government making a law saying who can't use a private bathroom if you are simultaneously complaining about the government making a law about who can.

target took a public stand regarding how they want their bathrooms used. now people are saying 'there ought to be a law...' Can't have it both ways.

And I have never implied or stated otherwise.

I know this to be true and i'm sorry if i implied that you had stated anything to the contrary. I was using 'you' in the larger sense in regards to those that think the government should be writing laws about this matter for private businesses.

The government tells private businesses who they can hire, and who they can promote ahead of others. They regulate their employee insurance. I guess bathrooms fall into their responsibility?

Yes but it is not the government’s job to do that. It is liberal politicians traumatically bonded to their “mommy issues” that “feel” they need to in order to pander to a group (lesbians/gays) that makes up around 2% of the US population. Oh … they “tyranny of the majority” …

The government’s assumed responsibility here is much like “smoking bans”. I don’t like to be around cigarette smoke anymore if I don’t have to. But I don’t think the government has the right to tell restaurants, bars or even children’s daycare that the patrons in their establishment can’t smoke. The libertarian in me says “let the market decide”. It is not the government’s job.

Its because the US is the most prudish nation in the world. Other country's ….

Different cultures different values. Like many have stated on this thread, people here don’t like restrooms where there is not partition or privacy wall. Would not say they are “prudish” as much as not wanting to hang their man-meat out in public. Other cultures and in particular third world cultures do not have the same privacy/modesty concerns that we have.

An example of this … who here besides RidgeHunter (who will on a semi-annual basis drop a deuce in a public phone booth to mark his territory) would sit on a toilet in a public restroom if the stall did not have a door on it? Personally I don’t want to see someone crap in public any more than they want to see me crap in public.

LOL, I don't know about todays Military, but when I was in, it was a community crapper with 8 stools along the wall and no partition if in barracks. If you had shy bowels, you quickly got over it. I suspect with the coed barracks now, its different.
Lots of bars around here still have the troughs as well as a couple places I worked. Walk in, belly up, and do your bidness with someone on either side.

Here is a barracks bathroom at Ft Leonard-wood Mo. Note the trough on the lower right.
It was all done for a reason btw.

While I don't view the human body as something to be shameful of, I do agree that one's willingness to share a peek at it should be the owner's choice, not to be infringed on by the perv who has access to hookers, loose sexual partners, or online porn. There are too many ways for people to get their jollies without invading someone else's privacy without consent. Why the need for being a perv?

Brady Theater in Tulsa still has the original trough urinals. Probably keeps the line shorter. Been there many times and never seen a ****. I don't look for them as hard as K9, tho.

Dive bars...lord help ya.

I'm all for more privacy, tho. I like a good one-holer with WiFi and good HVAC.
