will be interesting to see what happens for sure. Markets aren't currently thrilled with it, but that isn't exactly new.

And since the american consumer will be the one paying the price for the tariffs, it will be interesting to see if we change our buying habits enough to start to put the pressure on mexico or we just end up paying twice (once for the cost of the illegals being here and again for the tariff). Or how companies will handle the cost on their supply chains (IIRC a lot of auto parts come via mexico).

time will tell i guess

I noticed a commercial building being built in our town recently. Nobody on the job spoke English. Lots of farming operations employ illegal immigrants and pay them under the table. You can always tell who is the undocumented immigrants at a store because they always pay in cash.

What does paying in cash have to do with anything?
I pay for mostly everything in cash myself.
Whenever I go to the grocery store, other large retail stores, clothes, shoes, tires, guns & ammo, and etc. (unless I order something from an online source, then I get to use a card).
I do write checks for the utility bills & house payments, but that is about it.

The last 3 vehicles I have bought I payed for up front in cash.
I prefer it this way, & I was born & raised in Kansas & have lived in Oklahoma for the last 16 years. I'm as legal of an American as one can get.

Where does the tariff money go? Can it be used to fund a wall?
The Wall will be funded with a modest dip from the Pentagon's bottomless pit of money, which means it'll cost nothing-no problem. The tariffs will be paid on our side of the border to teach them Mexican's a lesson.

What about the bailout money? The money to farmers that'll help them solve the problems they suddenly have?
Well, it's going mostly to American Agricultural corporations to keep the wheels turning at their meat processing plants in central and South America.
We'll sqush all them forners like so many pancakes. Then they'll know who's boss, and who not to fool with.
When the trade war has been won how we will we recover the Chinese market for soybeans, corn etc.? Who cares?
That won't be a problem. The Chinese will solve that problem by reaching long term trade deals with Brazil, Argentina, and even Australia, which'll be just fine because it'll save us a lot of shipping costs that will get factored into the whole win/win situation. Lots of advantages for us. Why, a fool could see it.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens. What happens. See what happens. Just wait. Just wait. Wait and see what happens.

Will Mexico actually fund the wall? Good question.

Y’all think back a little ways when Trump slapped 25% tariffs on some Chinese goods and shut down the largest telecommunications company there from doing business with the US.
Anyone had a cell phone or game console shortage since then? Seen prices at Walmart go through the roof?
Sure, there are going to eventually be some ramifications, but it’s not going to be blood in the streets like the liberal media is hyping.
Illegal immigration from South America is being facilitated directly by the Mexican government allowing them passage with token resistance at Mexico’s southernmost border. They could stop it completely anytime they wish.
El Paso had over 1000 arrests in one day recently with the border patrol saying we are on track to detain a million this year. Ask yourselves how many got through undetected on that one day? Another thousand?
How much cocain, fentenol, meth and heroin got through that day because border patrol agents have been pulled from truck inspection check points? Tons or hundreds of tons?
Don’t blame Trump, place the blame where it belongs on the do nothing Congress, and I’m not picking on liberals here either because there are fingers to be pointed at republicans like Paul Ryan right along side of them.
I personally support this action because it will hurt Mexico much worse than it ever will the US economically and nothing will ever be done by congress.
The US can’t sustain this level of illegal immigration forever so someone with the balls to take direct action to preserve what is left just stepped up to the plate.

I hope Trump holds to his word on this one, he was going to shut the border down but someone changed his mind-evidently. He needs to quit being so wishy-washy and gather the facts, evaluate what damage could be done and then effect whatever he wants to do and not change his mind-it causes too much controversy.
