That's what I meant, it sounded as if he entered a residence owned by someone else to investigate. Not his job and certainly not something the police would likely suggest... for exactly this reason. I agree he was probably trying to be a good neighbor, but I feel for his family in the unfortunate situation. Castle doctrine only applies to your OWN castle.

God rest him, and I appreciate his intentions (as I understand them), but I don't think it was the greatest idea. :(

Just had a call and this was a friend of mine. Used to work for him and with him. What an end to the day. He really was a great guy.

It happend behind the condo. The man followed the thief to the back part of the condo's parking lot.

One of the deaceaseds neighbors said that they heard them arguing then heard the gun shots

Ah. Can't say if he was in the right or wrong, but got to give him props for having the b#$%s to follow the guy and try to stop him. Sounds like he was one of those tough old school guys.
