I use a 3.5 Cubic foot cement mixer, a squirt of Oxy Clean, a squirt of lemi Shine, a couple table spoons of cream of tartar, and 10 pounds of brass pins. Add warm water to make sure the parts get wet and run for 30 minutes. I pour off the extra water, rinse a couple times with clean water and lay out to dry. I'm usually running 2,000 to 4,000 pieces at a time. The lemi shine gives an acid etch and the cream of tartar gives a new polished shine.

I have used one of those Harbor Freight dual tumblers. I overloaded mine (still works) to do about 80 pieces of brass per drum at a time.
