My wife has requested a new vacuum. She's rather hard on them (vacuums daily) as our current one has only lasted about 3 years. It's a Hoover Wind Tunnel T-Series and the bottom lip, surrounding the sweeper has broken (most likely from meeting the baseboards too often). I haven't been too impressed with it's ability to pick up dog/cat hair (prior to damage) when moving from the tile/hardwood floors to the carpet. We're about to move into a new house with more carpet, so I need a solid vacuum which is bagless.

In my research, I've found a Bissell or two that are rated highly on Amazon, but I suspect that could due to the price point being less than $150, making it a more likely purchase for most. Here's one Bissell with decent reviews BISSELL-CleanView-Bagless-Technology-3583

I'm leaning toward the Shark Rotator Pro Complete just due to the reviews. It seems to handle moving between hard/carpeted floors without issue. Shark-Rotator-Complete-Lift-Away-NV552

Does anyone have experience with the Shark vacuums vs Bissell/Hoover? Any thoughts on either?

Unfortunately I can't help you with wither of those brands.

I bought my wife a Dyson Animal several years back. With our shedding lab tile and carpet. I haven't had any complaints. Other than she doesn't use it as much as she should.

Ha ha well then.....I thought about Dyson, but they are still so much higher comparatively.
FWIW, a few years ago my brother and I were talking about buying our parents a new vacuum cleaner; he said it could be any brand as long as it wasn't Dyson. In a previous career, he had to use Dysons, and he was, shall we say, less than impressed with them. The custodians at work had some for a little while, but they couldn't stand up to commercial use, so they're back to commercial vacuum cleaners.

Personally, I think they look incredibly cheap, particularly for the prices they charge, but I've not used one, so I can't comment on how well they work.

I like my Oreck, but I recently needed a cheap vacuum, so I bought a $49 Bissell Helix bagless from WallyWorld. Dumping the containers is a bit messy, but I'd assume that all bagless vacs are like that. It seems to pick up OK; it's not as good as the Oreck, but it was worth the money I paid for it. I checked the Amazon reviews before I bought it, and, as I recall, they were fairly accurate. I've only had it for a couple of months, so I can't really comment on its durability yet--but for the price, I don't really expect much.

We have a Bissell. Can't remember the model, but it's bagless. Had it about 4 years, still picks up great. Just clean it, and replace filters periodically.
We have a cat, toddler, and wife that shed worse then a dog. Picks every thing up out of high shag carpet, low carpet, and tile.

We have tile, stained concrete, and carpet. Wife bought a Dyson and thinks it rocks, does every floor surface with no problems, and you never run out of bags.

I just got through buying a new vacuum..We had a Dyson for the last 6 years and the thing actually broke in half a couple weeks ago..I got ready to break the handle back and start vacuuming and the whole damn thing just snapped.. I started comparing and shopping on Amazon and finally ordered the Shark Navigator, Lift Away Pro...So far I've been really impressed..It has been better then I could have ever imagined..we have an indoor Lab and so vacuuming was and still is a daily job..This thing got hair the first use that I'm sure had been in the rug a while..over half of house is hard wood and it works really well on it also..It also comes with a special dust away head that is made for wood floors but I actually haven't tried it yet..another attachment is what it calls a pet, powder brush..Actually a smaller head that has a built in wind driven brush..this is really the thing to use on pet hair..Anyway, I just can't say enough good things about it..Maybe it won't last 6 years like the Dyson, but it cost less then half as much as the Dyson and is a much more powerful machine..If interested, the one we ordered on amazon was the Shark Navigator Lift Away Pro model NV 355..Good luck..VIKING
