Yeah. Neither vga, nor dvi carry audio.

That $30 video card is looking better and better.
I already have the audio cable I was using on the old tv. Only need if watching a video. I rarely watch videos and only have ota television so no hula, Roku, Netflix or any other subscriptions.

I’ve used vga to hdmi converters as well as dvi to hdmi and hdmi to vga adapter cables. You need a powered converter to go from VGA to hdmi but just a conversion cable to go from dvi to hdmi or hdmi to vga. If it’s just a cable or adapter, it’s for converting the hdmi digital to analog hdmi.

I would recommend using the dvi and getting a converter cable. <$10 on Amazon. After that, get a cheap video card that supports hdmi natively. However, depending upon the computer you have and operating system, there are possible compatibility issues… so that’s less desirable…. So using dvi with a cable is a better choice.
