That brings up a question. If he's not a cop, why not wear a shirt that says "SECURITY"?

Fox 23 news says he's currently a Collinsville reserve officer: http://www.fox23.com/news/former-tu...ged-after-firing-weapon-at-gun-show/510355982.

Pounds was also involved in an arrest in Okmulgee county in 2005 that resulted in Ken Yazel of the Tulsa County tax assessor's office shooting a suspect: http://www.tulsaworld.com/archives/...cle_a627713e-7400-500a-846e-629ed6cb2c29.html

I sure hate that this event happened. I work with retired or part time LEOs everyday, and they are top notch guys. It takes a lot of professional people to make and event like Wanenmacher occur, but it only takes one idiot to ruin it.

One of my late uncles was retired OHP. He was one of the worst people with a firearm I'd ever seen.

As for why no charges are filed against these off-duty officers for wounding people - their departments, the show sponsors - or both - pay the victim's medical bills and give them large reparations. Wonder what would (will) happen if someone gets killed?

The accidental discharge at the gun show was very similar to the one involving a Wagoner County reserve deputy this past February at the new White River Fish Market in Broken Arrow - two people were injured in that incident, yet no charges were filed against that officer. Why not?

Was the reserve deputy pointing his gun in the direction of other people and then pulling the trigger intentionally? I didn't read that in the article.

Apparently not - but to my knowledge that's not a component of the charge either. If I were one of those two people who were injured by his negligent handling of his loaded weapon I would want the same misdemeanor charge of reckless handling of a firearm filed against him.

I don't know, but from what I've read, I wouldn't consider them to be "very similar". But I haven't got any additional info on the Wagoner county incident other than what is in the news reports.
