What is NIL ???
NIL stands for Name/Image/Likeness. This is what has made college football like AAA baseball (a minor league system). If the player is noteworthy, he/she wants to be paid for his or her NIL and the use of it in advertising, and product sales. The school is using it bring attention/attraction and sell more tickets, jerseys, etc. etc. Players want a piece of the pie. It has created a nightmare for coaches dealing with big headed players.

Now, in regards to my joke. Or was it? It is more real than you think in High School sports. The east side of the state has been busted for such actions in a smaller scale. Jenks proliferation/domination in football had out of district players performing their art in the wrong schools. Carting them cross town to play where they did not belong. The coach's greed and players desire to be seen for college recruitment was sin worthy.

Bishop Kelly, a private catholic school, would give scholarships away to a Baptist or Protestant players for the same goal, and the selling/purchase of a soul. Money is the root of all evil.

Coach Sabon (old shool) quit because of it and Coach Belichick (ex pro coach) may succeed at the college level because of it.

As for Elgin, a small school is most likely not involved in such things. Their success is more likely from small town cohesion, good parenting, and the right group of kids that got really good coaching from 10-12 years of age. If they can repeat over and over, they might have a really good HS coach. If it is short lived, then the HS coach is riding the wave of what I said previously.
