Just got back from there fished a couple days and only got a few catfish (5) .Today got 2 in 6 hours.
Pretty slow bite below the dam at the 1000 foot mark and farther down like 2000 foot.
Just shore fishing.
Wife wanted to go so we got a cabin at Tenkiller park.
Plenty of small shad and herring.
Yes I got as many herring on some casts as i did shad. Usually 4-8 baitfish per cast.
Water is really moving well takes 8 oz to hold you at about the 2000 foot area.
Which I call the jeep trail.
Seen 6 deer above the dam at Brewers Bend all does all together.
Seen some Pelicans and Monarchs are crossing the river below lock 16.. pretty cool.
Wife got a nice small nibble and set the hook and started reeling in the ABU 6000 and said it felt decent but was coming in like a wet log with just a little action.
A big fat Blue rolled up near shore and she got exited as did I .
Fat head on it and fat body..No scales but it measured exactly 30".
It had a jig in it's belly a lead head shaped like a triangle and maybe a #4 size hook and some spring above the head..I suppose to hold a rubber jig???
Poor thing had it deep in it's belly and looked like scar tissue was around that area.
The side fins looked worn down but not red or bloody..Kind of reminded me of what a bull dogs ears look like when they are cut.
Fins were maybe 1.25" long smooth and blunt.
Drum are biting ok. Kept 4 of those.
Tossed that many back.
Fished from Noon to 40 minutes after dark first day and 11:30 to 5:30 the next day.
I was not out there at optimum bite time.
