It will work, but I live in reality. It will NEVER even be attempted. One there are too many people that will lobby to keep it open. Two the amount of money to wipe them out with hired shooters/trappers AND keep them out will be huge and you would probably never get the proper funding.

That plan is literally the only chance a state has of wiping hogs out and keeping them out.
Missouri outlawed sport hunting. They identified the major problem as idiots illegally transporting and releasing hogs so they could turn around and hunt them. So they decided to actually address the problem instead of the symptom.

Yep. Hogs are very slow to naturally migrate or expand thier range. Number one reason hogs have expanded while they have is idiots toting them around and kicking them out so they could hunt them.

Again you outlaw all sport hunting of hogs and you take away everybody's incentive to have them. They are nothing more than destructive pest at that point and landowners will happily allow contracted gunners/trappers to come on thier property and be rid of them.

It's against the law in Kansas and Nebraska to hunt them. This is how they have successfully kept them out. Every time a group shows up in those states the wildlife department sicks the hired hog specialist on them and they disappear.

Yet again I repeat this will never ever happen in Oklahoma their would be too much of an outcry for the reasons I already listed.

It's a good start. We're gonna need more than that to get a good population started. Will say the odwc is bringing them back from Louisiana in the "trout trucks". They say they are getting trout from Arkansas but we know what they are really up to!!
I hope it's that strain of gators that don't bite people!

Oh man to be a good conspiracy theory they almost have to be man eaters!

I'm pretty sure the cats they are dumping are the strain that eat California joggers. Which depending on how you view the social mentality of Californians moving into this state could be a good or bad thing?! Maybe the ODWC is on to something with these big cat releases?!

There is a product call Hog-Gone that uses sodium nitrite that will kill the hogs that’s currently being tested by the FDA. It’s been legal in Australia since 2008 and is around 90% effective. Sodium nitrite is used to cure pork so it’s not lethal to human, deer, cattle, etc. but it does a number on hogs. I shot five last night but that's only a drop in the bucket. My neighbor and I have trapped over 40 hogs over the past couple of years but it's not making a dent in the numbers.

Nitrate poisoning is a real threat to cattle especially in drought areas. This may be a different dosage but I'd be extremely leery of using it or having any neighbors that did. It's in forages naturally in certain levels but putting a feed out that's coated with it would be a train wreck waiting to happen with livestock. http://www.uaex.edu/publications/pdf/fsa-3024.pdf

From what I understand the amount of sodium nitrite needed to put swine into a permanent coma is a lot lower than other mammals need. It is also has a pretty short life in once in the hogs system, meaning coyotes and other predators eating on carcasses will not be effected.
