There is a product call Hog-Gone that uses sodium nitrite that will kill the hogs that’s currently being tested by the FDA. It’s been legal in Australia since 2008 and is around 90% effective. Sodium nitrite is used to cure pork so it’s not lethal to human, deer, cattle, etc. but it does a number on hogs. I shot five last night but that's only a drop in the bucket. My neighbor and I have trapped over 40 hogs over the past couple of years but it's not making a dent in the numbers.
Nitrites and nitrates are quite harmful to people, depending upon the amount ingested. The dose makes the poison. They also cause environmental damage if they get into the water. There is a product call Hog-Gone that uses sodium nitrite that will kill the hogs that’s currently being tested by the FDA.
