I came home from a week long work trip and found about a dozen of these little holes dug out in my lawn. Can anyone tell me what type of varmint is doing this, and any possible remedies?
Could be an armadillo looking for grubs.

Thanks. I'll do some reading on how to get rid of them. I haven't noticed a burrow anywhere on the property, but apparently I need look again.

Night vision on a suppressed 22 from the roof sounds like a lot of fun. Not sure how well that'll play in the neighborhood though.
It’s basically the same thing as getting rid of moles—get rid of the prey and you’ll get rid of their predators. In this case, get rid of the grubs and the armadillos will go elsewhere to find them.
Liquid seven sprayed on the lawn will drive any grubs to the surface to die. I am not saying this is the solution as I hate broad spectrum pesticide.
You just go out in the evening with a firearm and find the shell and fire into it.
