Some have suggested that there was some “cover-up” behind the timing of the final report, or that as soon as the “implosion” heard by Navy assets, the search should have ceased.

Leaked (pun intended) last transcript of mothership and minisub. According to the transcript no one noticed they were descending too fast. They decided to abort and surface but were hearing noises aft and coming up too slowly They jettisoned the landing frame. At around 3457 ft they reported more sounds aft then lost comms.
