What is leading?

I'm fairly new to guns in general but I'm already addicted . And Im assuming this may be a dumb question but can someone explain to me what leading is?

So, to not waste time is it leading the barrel, or leading game for a running/flying shot?

(one more reason that it has been said the English language is the hardest to learn in the entire world)

Sorry I didn't specify. I was talking about leading the barrel.

Lead bullets can, and do leave some residue in the barrel.
I shoot lead bullets in USPSA competitions in .40 and .45ACP
It makes shooting in volume more affordable.
I've never had a problem shooting lead, but make sure the supplier has hard cast lead designed for the gun your using.
