How in the hell do you lose a backpack with $3300 in it? Why the hell did the kid have $3300 in a backpack? I'd have it in my pocket and be OCD feeling it every few minutes. I OCD feel my wallet all day long.
Homeless guy might have been justified returning it missing $1000 and leave a note explaining it was a ******* tax for losing it.

I take it you've never made a very large purchase and brought cash for the negotiations. Even chain stores will come down on the price of a big ticket item if you have cash in hand and talk to the right person.

The owner was stupid to.....

1) Put $3300 in his backpack instead of his pocket.
2)Lose said backpack containing $3300!!

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm a little more careful with $3300 than this tool was.He doesn't deserve to get it back. Now if he was in a car wreck or had some extenuating circumstances, then I would withdraw my statements.

Saw a guy drop a $100 at the concession at an OSU football game recently. Picked it up and tapped him on the shoulder. "Sir, you dropped this." He said thank you and bought my Chik-fil-A sammich and my drink.

More times than I can remember.

I'm almost a "cash only" man. I always have a decent amount of cash on me. Above that, I've purchased things that I carried a substantial amount of cash to buy many times.

I DON'T PUT IT IN A BACKPACK. It stays on my person, and I check for it often. I think it is stupid to carry that much cash in a backpack. A backpack is lots easier to lose/get stolen than a pair of jeans. I've never lost my jeans (sober).

I once left my wallet at a blackjack table at Harrahs in LV. I only had $100 bucks in it (folded and tucked away in case of emergency). I always keep my money separate in money clip. My wallet did have my ID's, credit cards, room key, ect in it. I was flying out that night (do you think they would have let me on the plane without ID?) Anyways fast fwd 1hr realized I did not have wallet, went back to blackjack table and yes someone turned it in to lost and found. Went and retrieved wallet and everything was still there. Awesome! So I went to pit boss to find person that turned it in and they had moved to another table but we found him so I gave him a hundred bucks, well worth it being in another state and not having Id ect. He did not want to take it at first and said well their was only 100 bucks in it you need it more than me. But after speaking with him a few min he finally took it.

Karma is always greater than cash. I have done it several times.

I wasn't homeless, but I didn't make a lot of money either. It wasn't $3300 but it was about $2200.

Dude lost his wallet at the bar, hadn't even discovered it was missing. Found it when I was cleaning up and running the vacuum, found his address and number in the wallet and called him. He was travelling between memphis and denver when he stopped at the bar for a break from driving. He was almost to wichita when I called his cellphone number that was in the wallet. I waited around till 5am for him to come back and get it.

I could have bankrolled an entire trip to NOLA for vacation on that amount.

Guy called the bar a couple of months later he came through town and brought me 2 bottles of chivas 21 royal salute and a box of cuban monte cristo #4's for christmas.
