Not bad for a former NFL football player.

Amazing Grace played on Bagpipes.
Okay, this is gonna be wordy but I gotta tell the story. Ronald Reagan had just been announced dead. I forget the particulars because I think he died on the weekend but it wasn’t announced until Monday morning or something like that. What I vividly remember is as follows:

I worked at NW expressway and Portland. Got a coffee and went to Stars and Stripes Park to chill a bit before heading to work. It was foggy. I was backed into a spot looking over the lake. A compact white pickup with a camper shell pulled up. An older gentleman got out wearing some kind of soldier uniform with a kilt. He walked over to the circle area with the big flag with a set of bagpipes. He stood by the short brick wall facing the water and played amazing grace. It sounded like several people playing at once. It was amazing. I still get teared up thinking about it. Never seen anything like it before or since. It was like one of those changing of the guard at the unknown soldier moments.
