When being armed is pointless

Just as a thought, whether one is open or concealed carry, an aggressor that happens to be on drugs may not be concerned in either case.

I fall in the "fat, old phart" category, so running or fighting is out of the question for me.

I understand the 21' rule. Do most criminals who would be armed with a knife know about it? I have to wonder.

If a random thug is armed with a knife and he sees that I'm carrying a gun, I'd have to imagine that he'd feel underarmed and leave me alone. I doubt that he'd think "If I can get within 21' of him I can knife him before he can shoot me" and even then, would he roll the dice and chance getting shot?

Naturally, if the guy is on drugs all bets are off.

I know if you gave me a knife it'd be more like a 5' circle of safety. I'm far from a ninja.
