but I will say I have heard from alot of people that the newer ones are actually pretty tasty!

They just give me nightmares and can't bring myself to try another one.

Burn ban doesn't necessarily mean you can not take a small portable Grill which we just did. So call your local FD/PD for your area and ask. Wal-mart also has portable just add water meals which are not that bad and generally run around 3 to 5 bucks depending on the sizes you choose to pack. Goodluck on your outing and stay safe.

You know I became a pretty decent in my unit when it came to cooking MRE's in the field......I could put some stuff together that actually tasted good.....I miss some of those meals......(some).

The new ones are pretty tasty. now with some of the new additions like tortillas and new cheese flavors.....I could do some damage.

It's a trap. Stay away from MRE's. Look at the left hand column, most of the way down.
