I do think even bought new on Doxa's website their pretty reasonable for what you get. Specs as good as submariner or 300m, easily read dial, excellent machining, many dial options, great lume, excellent machined bracelets, screws, not pins (very comfortable and adjustable). Only part that falls short is the clasp. Perhaps the newer clasps are better, but it is ahead of Seiko. Only other weak spot is not COSC or Metas certified. In spite of non certication it runs about 2 seconds fast per day.I need to get my hands on one of these. I've been liking Doxa more and more as I've read about them. Maybe on old Doxa WWII trench watch. That would be a fun project and probably easier on my wallet, haha!
I'm not entirely sold on COSC certifications. It's nice if a watch has it, but I can take an off-the-shelf Seiko with a 4R or better movement, and with some fine tuning, reach COSC standards. Metas is a whole other level of difficulty to reach, and not many can wear that patch. I actually looked at a couple of Doxas on eBay tonight.I do think even bought new on Doxa's website their pretty reasonable for what you get. I agree with that, is certification really worth a premium? I do like Metas because of it's focus on antimagnetism. However my Seiko Monster can survive 5800 Gauss, which is greater than a Rolex Milgauss, less than a Metas certified Tudor or Omega. Seiko does have really good in house certification though as evidenced by their Prospex series. BTW, wearing a Doxa is a cultlike experience in many ways. Wear one to a gun show, some will notice. Had a guy at H and H's expo days who dived professionaly who told me he traded in a Submariner which he needed serviced 2x after dives for a Doxa and cash. Only needed the Doxa serviced 1 time after 20 years for accuracy issues that cropped up over time.I'm not entirely sold on COSC certifications. May have to put the Bellmatic search on hold for a minute LOL. That is sharp.
So, not a gold Rolex @coolhandluke but I have a thing for Westclox. And these colors go very well together..Now to find a Burgandy for it. View attachment 446570
