The folks at the tag agency told me “early last year.”
Previously, I had to keep the regular state issued tag under the seat when running the vanity plate.
It’s been a couple years, so I see it’s changed.
I've had a Vietnam veteran plate on my pickup for a few years.....like stated above you used to have to carry your regular Okla. tag in the vehicle also but not anymore.

Yeah they changed it so you aren't required to have the regular tag, but to be honest I never carried it with me anyway. I don't do stupid and as far as I was concerned having to carry the original plate, even though the STATE issued a specialized plate and has it on record, fit the definition of stupid.
