I don't get the need or desire to shoot a buck in velvet when it is triple digit outside. Anyone of you think you would do it if passed? Muzzleloader only by the way.

It passed the Okie Senate and is on the way to the House.

My thoughts are that "hunting seasons" are an overreach of government so anything that moves us closer to freedom is fine with me. I won't be out there in 100 degree heat, but if someone's in the mood for deer steaks and Biden's Economy is keeping them from affording cow, by all means go for it.

IIRC Kansas has a muzzleloader season in September.

I think it's a novelty. I might do it once but i have no desire to sunburn in a deer stand. Happens enough as is.

Why only muzzleloader? Why not archery?

I would vote against it personally as it'll only drive up the presence of guides and land/lease costs.

IIRC Kansas has a muzzleloader season in September.

I hunted it one year. 2012 or 2013 I think. Wasn't horribly hot, but the thermacell definitely came in handy. Didn't see anything though.

Agreed. There's certain areas where muzzleloaders aren't allowed (WMAs, city limits, etc) so the options are limited day 1, again driving up land / lease prices.

This makes it kind of sound like a ODWC scam.

Yes KS has a Sept MZ season, and really it's pretty great. You can use any unfilled MZ tag from Sept during the December Firearms season as well. So you can hunt velvet bucks that are very easy to pattern in Sept in the heat, or you can hunt the post rut when it's cool.
