This says he was shooting an AR-15

I am not a shrink, but this reads like a psychotic break, apparent sudden onset of schizophrenia, which is most commonly seen (among males) at about this guy's age.

Sad for everyone involved, and like a heavy share of schizophrenics, he committed suicide.

The only reason why only a few people died is because the shooter did not properly know how to utilize the AR15. Imagine this, any person who has taken a legit firearms class, weather it be with a pistol, shotgun or rifle should be able to do great damage, especially in a place like a crowded shopping mall during the Christmas shopping season...
