This is hilarious... you probably thought you had a "gotcha" point here. Here's where some basic education would come into play and why it's hard to take naysayers seriously. The irony is probably lost on you that you just posted an article about a synthetic substance that isn't marijuana in any way shape or form, is completely legal, and has been known to cause all sorts of harmful side effects. But by god it's not reefer!!!
The article goes to show how stupid some people are and the extremes they'll go to for a high.

The basic pro-drugs argument, Sure we already have tons of drunk drivers and people dying from lung diseases, what difference is a few thousand more going to make.

"Why Your State Should NOT Legalize Weed"

'Cause discussin' it on gun forums makes folks go nuts...? :drunk2:

Yeah, and here I thought it was nice that we hadn't had a stoner post in quite some time. Now, Cobra has to bring OSA back to being ready to take a thread to epic lengths.

This country is already pro-drugs, the only thing is big pharma makes money of them as they make us sicker and sicker. How many drugs are removed each year after all the dangerous side effects are "found" out. Albeit this happens many years after they are released (usually right about the time they go to generic). How many people die each year from legal drug abuse? How many people die because a legal drug is far deadlier than the FDA let on? And yet you want to harp on a drug that has caused 0 overdose deaths, is far safer than alcohol, and does have some medicinal benefits? That is what gets me.

Except most of that is BS. People for drug abuse often site "big pharma" yet they have cured far more deadly diseases than pot ever will, and yes drugs are removed after studies and evidence from long term use involving thousands of people. None of which has really been done with pot. Only non-scientific BS. As far as no overdose deaths, prove it. I have read a few studies that say different. As far as pot having some medical benefit, yes a limited amount which the parts of the plant used for that are already legal.

For the record, most of the things pot is claimed to cure are complete and utter lies. It will not cure cancer, heart disease. etc, etc, etc. It will help some people with seizures though for many it is temporary and it will help some taking chemo by easing the side effects.

Oh and if pot really had real medical properties "big pharma" would have buffered it, combined it with other drugs or something to get a patent and be selling it for big bucks.

Is that your concern? Addiction? That's an excellent endeavor to consider. Ok, since addiction is truly your concern, then I should see postings form you in the alcohol thread around here considering all the death, abuse, and property destruction it contributes to. Next let's talk about tobacco addiction and how many people we lose a year to cancer and pulmonary disease. Finally, let's talk about legal drugs like K2 which was synthesized to mimic the properties of weed, yet puts people in the hospital on a routine basis or even better, prescription drugs that contribute to a 40,000 a year death count.

But honestly, here's what will happen, you will grow silent, and you will continue to make snarky remarks about a substance that has yet have any documented overdose deaths and ignore substances that cause multiple deaths daily, at the very least.

Could you go ahead and post those studies? Anecdotally, why are other overdose deaths so prevalent and MJ overdose deaths seemingly nonexistent? Given how many people smoke weed there should be an abundance of data of people dying? But there isn't. But you say you've read something so let's see it.

One thing to add is that I really don't see much argument for MJ to be a "cure" to so much as easement of symptoms that will return a quality of life. On the flipside "big pharma" is in the same business. "Big Pharma" makes a lot more money off something that someone will have to be on for the rest of their lives.
